One of the more enjoyable services our company performs is excavation. For centuries man has been memorized by the art of transforming, transporting, and shaping soil. Soil provides foundation support for many structures such as buildings, bridges, airports, parking lots, and roads. Our company has experience and skill in providing excavation services that include on-site cut and fill, import fill, export excavation, rock excavation (including drilling and blasting), removal of unsuitable materials, and obtaining and permitting borrow pit areas.

There are several aspects that are important to a successful earthwork project. Both the engineering and construction process are critical. During the engineering phase it is important to identify problematic soils and when possible to provide a site design that balances earthwork quantities on-site. Typically, a geotechnical engineer will provide a soils report, which includes soil borings, soil parameters, and provide recommendations concerning the soils to be used on a proposed project. Using the information provided within the soils report, the site designer will provide the grading plan for the project.

The keys to our company's successful excavation operations include our equipment fleet and project management. Our equipment fleet is comprised of late model equipment that is maintained by our staff. Our firm's project management team starts with the earthwork takeoff. Our estimating staff utilizes computer software to calculate cut-fill quantities and to generate 3D models of the proposed construction. After a project is awarded our firm starts earthwork planning, which includes managing topsoil, problematic soils, securing borrow and waste areas, and on larger projects creating mass diagrams. Once construction begins our crews are efficient, and well-trained at placing soil at the specified thickness, specified moisture content, and obtaining required density.
